PAC prodcuts help Bloomsburg to successful weekend

Men’s Swimming

BLOOMSBURG » Seniors Pat Agnew (Pottstown/Pottsgrove) and Cameron Junk (Pennsburg/Upper Perkiomen) and redshirt-junior Logan Baker (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) had a busy weekend as the Huskies competed in a PSAC meet against Indiana University of Pa. on Friday before competing in the John A. Pidgeon Memorial Invitation­al and IUP Last Chance Invitation­al on Saturday.

Agnew picked up one individual win and added 12 points for the Huskies in a victory over IUP on Friday as he led the pack in the 100-yard freestyle and finished with the win and a time of 48.11 as well as helping the Huskies to the win in the 200-free relay to close out the meet.

On Saturday during a second place finish in the Pidgeon Invitation­al Junk finished third (1:02.79) and Agnew fifth overall in the 100 breast. Junk took fourth with a time of 22.42 in the 200 butterfly. Agnew and Baker also teamed for a second-place finish in the 400 free.

Later that day during a win in the Last Chance meet, Agnew and Baker teamed for a victory in the 200 free relay (1:26.25), while Junk was on the fifth-place relay team in the event. Agnew claimed an individual win in the 100 free (47.70) and Baker came in third (48.37). Junk came in fourth in the 200 free. CHRIS GUILIANO (DOUGLASVIL­LE/ DANIEL BOONE) » The Notre Dame freshman helped set two pool records during the Fighting Irish’s Tim Welsh Classic this past weekend.

Guiliano won the 50 freestyle with a time of 19.72 to break the pool record. He also swam a leg of Notre Dame’s 400 medley relay team to set the pool record with the time of 3:09.00, also helping his team finish first in the 200 medley as well.

The freshman also had a third place finish in the 200 free (1:38.26) and was a part of secondplac­e finishes in the 200, 400 and 800 free relays.

NOAH VIVIAN (BARTO/BOYERTOWN) » The Lycoming College freshman had two individual wins to help his team to a 11267 victory over Wilkes University on Saturday. Vivian took the 50yard free with a time of 22.72 and the 100-yard butterfly at 55.43. He was also part of the winning 200 free relay team.

Vivian swam a 23.19 to take the 50-yard freestyle and helped the 200 free relay team to victory in a loss to King’s College a week earlier. DYLAN ALEXANDER (SKIPPACK/ PERKIOMEN VALLEY) » The Arcadia senior was a multi-event winner in his team’s victory over Widener on Friday. Alexander swam a time of 10:26.2 for a win in the 1,000 free and later came out on top in the 500 Freestyle (5:02.88). LUKE MCKENNA (COLLEGEVIL­LE/ SPRING-FORD) » The Gettysburg College sophomore helped his team to a pair of victories this weekend.McKenna won the 400 IM (4:18.38) against McDaniel on Friday. In a win over Mary Washington on Saturday, McKenna started his day by winning the 1,000 free by more than 23 seconds at 10:01.36 and also finished second in the 500 free.

Women’s Swimming

MIKAYLA NINESS (SPRING CITY/ OWEN J. ROBERTS) » The sophomore had three high finishes for West Chester University Saturday afternoon, but the Golden Rams still ended up on the short end of a 193-106 score with the University of Delaware.

Niness won the 50 free in 24.37 seconds while taking second in both the 100 free (53.07) and 1,000 free (10:36.38).

Men’s Basketball

HONOR HUFF (PERKIOMEN SCHOOL) » The Virginia Military Institute freshman set a career-high in points in three consecutiv­e contests this past week, averaging 19.7 points, while shooting 70 percent from the field and 63 percent from three during the Cadets’s 2-1 stretch

Huff, who was averaging 6.2 points per game before the hot stretch, scored 15 points in a Jan. 15 win over The Citadel. He followed with 21 points (five threes) in a Jan. 20 win over Samford. Two days later, Huff poured in 23 points in a loss to Chattanoog­a.

Huff is averaging 8.3 points in 24 minutes per game in 20 games (six starts) for VMI this season.

Men’s Indoor Track

ANTHONY DEFUSCO (DOUGLASSVI­LLE/DANIEL BOONE) » Kutztown University men’s track & field sent a field-heavy crew to the Alvernia Winter Invitation­al, Saturday, led by DeFusco winning the long and triple jumps and setting the seventh-best triple jump in team history. The Golden Bear sophomore is quickly building on a rookie outdoor season that saw him secure top six finishes in the long (fifth) and triple (sixth) jumps at the PSAC Championsh­ips. He went 14.23m (46’8.25”) to capture the triple jump with a new personal best and moved up from eighth to seventh on KU’s indoor top 10 list. The mark also moved DeFusco up to second in the PSAC thus far.

DeFusco achieved his second conference qualifying mark in the triple jump this season and also did it again in the long jump to win Saturday’s competitio­n in a field of 39 competitor­s with a best of 6.81m (22’4.25”).

Wrestling

BLOOMSBURG » Two Pioneer Athletic Conference mat alumni contribute­d to Kutztown University’s 35-9 romp over Millersvil­le in Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference action Friday.

Kibwe McNair (Lansdale/ Methacton) posted his first dual pin on Jonathan Parilla at 157, giving the 11th-ranked Golden Bears a 22-0 lead. Matt Wilde (Boyertown) chipped in with a 12-2 major decision of Bryce Beatty at 125, improving his record to 6-1.
