VOLUNTEERS HONOR VETERANS AND THE PLANET BY RECYCLING WREATHS

- — Submitted By Bobbi Riley

Members of the Valley Forge Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; The Society of the Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge; the Valley Forge Park Alliance; and the Valley Forge Fire Company recently teamed up to recycle 500 wreaths that were on display at Valley Forge National Historic Park over the Christmas holidays. The wreaths were part of Wreaths Across America, to honor and pay respect to America’s fallen veterans. When it was time to remove the wreaths, a suggestion was made to recycle them. Twenty-five volunteers gathered at the Valley Forge Fire Co. on Jan. 15, separating the pine branches from the metal wreath frames, to be taken to the Phoenixville Borough composting site and a metal recycler.
