Phoenixville native Isabel Nagy Rudick celebrates 100th birthday
The family of Isabel Nagy Rudick recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Daughter to Hungarian immigrants Barbola Yuhasz and Alexander (Shandor) Nagy, Isabel was born in Phoenixville in 1922.
Originally known as
Giza, she had 2 siblings, the late Frank Nagy Sr. and the late Julius Nagy.
A war bride, Isabel married Joseph F. Rudick, now deceased, of Mont Clare, in 1943.
While her husband was in Europe, Isabel aided the war effort by processing and preparing plasma for use on the battlefield. In later years, she would continue work in the pharmaceutical field at Johnson & Johnson, then later entered the retail field at Strawbridge and Clothiers. Isabel enjoyed part-time jobs at an Antique Store then Harry & David’s well into her 80s.
She is a lifetime member of Parkside United Church of Christ in Phoenixville. Isabel enjoys reading, time with her family, and supervising her great-grandchildren as they practice beloved family recipes like stuffed cabbage and kiflis.
Her family includes daughter, the late Janice Duerr and her husband Dennis; son, Joseph A. and wife Joanne Rudick; grandchildren, Chris and wife Jennifer Duerr, Kate and husband Sean Flanagan, Jon Rudick, and James Rudick; greatgrandchildren, Grace, Henry, Lily, and Annaliese.
