-

SCHWENKSVILLE » Berks County artist Jon Bond will share his artistic perspectives with the Perkiomen Valley Art Center at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Engage Art Studio, 1005 N. Gravel Pike.

He will describe the methods and stories that underpin many of his original works.

“Jon draws inspiration from the rustic scenery of northern Berks County and hills and vales near his studio in Kempton, Pennsylvania. His paintings reflect the awesome sunsets and atmospherics of the Kittatinny Ridge and iconic farmsteads of Pennsylvania Dutch Country,” a release said.

Jon describes home, “Having spent the better part of my life here, I’ve forged strong bonds with the land and the people. Many of the faces I associate with places are gone, while others remain and carry on the legacy of their forbears.”

“Jon works primarily in oils and egg tempera, most often on wood panels, and occasionally on scraps of cardboard when preparing studies or sketches. He also works in watercolors, pencil, and silverpoint,” the release said.

According to Bond, “Whether my moods are sullen or joyous, I always find that the tug of the Kempton landscape lifts my soul.”

He has exhibited in countless juried shows and has been awarded numerous honors for his work. His art adorns homes, businesses and churches throughout eastern Pennsylvania and the United States.

He has mounted more than 10 solo exhibitions, published three art books, and collaborated with other musicians to cross-market his original art. He has also developed the Jonathan Bond ARTRAIL in rural Berks County, where digital reproductions showcase his art in rural settings, church sanctuaries, and local businesses. 2022 marks the 48th year of Jon’s profession as a painter and graphic artist.

“Jon estimates that he’s painted nearly 2,300 original paintings and designed more than 30,000 graphics during his long career,” the release said.
