Wawa wants to recognize nurses across its geographic footprint. The company plans to do that in a signature way — by providing coffee at 10 selected hospitals during its “Coffee & Care Tour” during Nurses Week May 6-12.

Wawa is giving hospitals across its Mid-Atlantic operating area, which includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of

Columbia, the opportunity to submit a request to have the Wawa Community Care Vehicle make a special visit during Nurses Week.

The Community Care Vehicle will set out on a 10stop tour between May 9 and 13 to serve the coffee. While on-site, the vehicle will serve up to 300 cups of coffee per visit, as a way of extending appreciation to nurses.

Wawa is accepting online nominations through 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 24. The nomination form can be accessed at www.wawa. com/nurses-week.

“We appreciate the tireless efforts and ongoing commitment nurses have shown these last challenging years and want to continue doing our part of showing appreciation to healthcare heroes with the Coffee & Care Tour,” Chris Gheysens, president & CEO, Wawa, said in a statement. “We hope our visit brightens the days of thousands of nurses in the community and lets the healthcare community know they can always count on Wawa.”

The online application asks for the name of the hospital or medical center, where it’s located, a contact name and phone number, the number of nurses on staff, and the selectin of two preferred days during that week.

To be eligible, the hospital or medical center must be located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

There is a limit of one submission per nominator.

Ten winning locations will be randomly selected “on or about” April 28 from among the entries received, according to the terms and conditions of the promotion.

The Wawa Community Care Vehicle was designed to provide care to the community and/or relief during times of crisis with its ability to brew and serve up to 500 cups of coffee at one time at any location. The vehicle first debuted at Riddle Hospital on Dec. 8, 2021 to extend appreciation to healthcare heroes, and has since made visits to Wilmington Hospital, Rowan University, Manna on Main Street, National Constitution Center, African American Museum in Philadelphia, among other community service institutions.
