NORRISTOWN » Montgomery County election officials are tying up some loose ends ahead of the May 17 primary.

Items on the Thursday morning agenda focused on moving a satellite office, posting drop box locations for returning mail-in ballots and relocating polling places.

“In the past two election cycles, we have operated satellite offices, and drop boxes throughout the county to ease the burden on residents who wish to vote in person, apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot and receive it in person, or return their mail-in or absentee ballot to the county directly,” said Montgomery County Elections Director Dori Sawyer.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections approved the transfer of a satellite office and ballot box in Pottstown.

Previously located on Montgomery County Community College’s West Campus in Pottstown, Sawyer cited the previous location “is now unavailable due to construction.”

Services will now be available at the Pottstown-based Montgomery County Office of Public Health, which is located at 364 King St.

Along with the Pottstown, the county’s voter services office will open several other spaces from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on specific weekend days:

• Lansdale: April 30 and May 8 at the Lansdale county office, located at 421

W. Main St.

• Narberth: May 1 and May 7 at the Magisterial District Judge Office of Lower Merion, located at 925 Montgomery Ave.

• Pottstown: April 30 and May 8 at the county public health office, located at 364 King St.

• Willow Grove: May 1 and May 7 at the Willow Grove annex, located at 102 N. York Road.

The county voter service’s office flagship location, located at One Montgomery Plaza, Suite 602, 425 Swede St., in Norristown, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 1 and May 7.

In addition, a number of drop boxes will open on April 30 and remain available “24 hours a day under video surveillance” until 8 p.m. on Election Day, according to election board officials.

Drop boxes will be placed at the following locations:

Additionally, the county’s election board authorized the relocation of four polling places. The impacted polling places were located in Norristown, along with Lower Gwynedd, Lower Merion and Springfield townships.

Sawyer noted that representatives from the county’s Democratic and Republican committees have been given notice. She added that voters within the respective polling places would also be notified of the change in locale

Montgomery County Election Board Chairman Ken Lawrence Jr. and Vice Chairwoman Val Arkoosh inquired about the Springfield Township location, which moved from PNC Bank, located at 1316 Bethlehem Pike, in Flourtown, to the Flourtown Country Club, located at 150 McCloskey Road.
