Nominations are being accepted for the 2023 Belinda R. Harrison Award, which honors a working single mother who has overcome adversity and is active in her community. This year’s winner will be announced and honored at the 11th annual Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference, which will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in West Chester. The award winner will enjoy a day of pampering at the conference, including a chair massage, facial and manicure.

Attendees enjoy workshops, a resource fair, select pampering services, and the opportunity to meet and connect with other single mothers. “This year’s theme is ‘Building Momentum,’ as we reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome over the past three years, as well as the need to rebuild togetherness, engagement and education,” said conference

co-chair Guillermina Rios in a press release. “Single motherhood can take many forms — divorced,

widowed, grandmothers raising grandchildren and single by choice.”

“I’m particularly excited about the workshop topics stemming from recommendations from single mothers, including cybersecurity, cyberbullying and keeping your kids safe online,” said Rebecca Worthington, Benchmark Federal Credit Union’s vice president of community relations.

The Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference is held every year to encourage, educate and empower single mothers whose role is the main provider for the family. The Chester County Community Collaborative organizes the annual conference for the more than 9,000 single mothers who reside in Chester County.
