STICKY SITUATION

Rep. Ciresi taped to trailer during Pottstown Children's Discovery Center event

Never let it be said that state Rep. Joe Ciresi, D-147th Dist., doesn’t know how to stick with an issue.

No, we’re not talking about fair school funding, cyber charter school reform, or support for the arts. We’re talking about something he really, really stuck to — tape. Lots and lots of tape.

It came at the end of a free-play cardboard build that the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center held Saturday morning.

The challenge, originally, was that the community would collect 100 rolls of tape and if it was completed by April 1, a Discovery Center member would get taped … “but then we roped Joe into the mix and being the good sport he is, he agreed,” said Karen Hudson, director of communications for the center.

In the end, about 140 rolls were collected, so chances looked good that Ciresi would be stuck pretty well.

And good sport that he is, Ciresi joked with the crowd

of mostly, but not all, children as he slowly got more and more attached to the trailer parked outside the center, located at 95 S. Hanover St.

Other elected officials

joined in, with both Pottstown Borough Council President Dan Weand and Pottstown School Board member John Armato trying their hand at taping the legislator.

And when it started to rain, Luke Johnson helpfully taped an umbrella over Ciresi’s head.

After proving that the tape would hold him, Ciresi extracted himself, once again proving how adept

politicians can be at extracting themselves from a sticky situation.

It really is true that duct tape is the right answer for almost everything.
