Pottstown man in running for national caregiver award
Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of senior home care, named Jermaine Cureton of Pottstown as one of the 10 semifinalists for its National Caregiver of the Year award.
The award recognizes Visiting Angels caregivers for their overall contribution and commitment to delivering quality care to the clients and families they serve, as well as how they embody the company’s compassionate values and demonstrate excellence. The semifinalists were selected from entries throughout the 600 Visiting Angels franchise locations nationwide.
Cureton joined Visiting Angels of Pottstown nearly eight years ago. He has spent more than 17,000 hours working with clients in his community — and many agree he has a magnanimous personality with a fantastic sense of humor and infectious attitude.
“Jermaine is very charismatic and connects so well with clients,” Wertman, Visiting Angels of Pottstown franchise owner. “He loves what he does, and it shows. Everyone in our office voted to nominate Jermaine for Caregiver of the Year. He is so deserving, he provides a great service to our community, positively impacts lives, and makes a difference in the lives of his clients and their families.”
One of Cureton’s clients has worked with dozens of caregivers for more than 20 years. He describes Cureton as one of the best he’s ever had. He said Cureton is particular, persistent, punctual and, most importantly, part of his family.
“Caregiving requires compassion, patience and dedication,” said
Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “It is not an easy job. Jermaine and the other nominees for the 2023 Caregiver of the Year award demonstrate their extraordinary commitment to their clients by helping them maintain their independence as long as possible.”
The Caregiver of the Year winner will be announced on June 27. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000. Two finalists will each receive $2,500.
