Pottsgrove dominates Border Battle

Boyertown dealt Spring-Ford its first PAC dual defeat since Jan. 23, 2019 with a home victory on Jan. 3. The Bears took control with a strong run in the middleweig­hts, winning seven of eight bouts between 121 and 172. Brody Coleman, Andrew Myslinski, Ryder Gehris and JD Heiser were pinfall winners in the run as Boyertown turned an 8-6 deficit into an insurmount­able 34-11 advantage.

Pottsgrove got pins from Nathan Gillin, Frederick Vasques and Jake Palladino and a technical fall from Cristobal Garcia. Phoenix Rhoads was Pottstown’s lone winner with a pine at 139.

Daniel Van Horn edged Mohammed Selmi 12-11 in the most compelling match of the dual.

59 >> The Warriors bounced back in the fourth quarter to overcome OJR and stay unbeaten in PAC play with a 73-59 road victory on Jan. 3. Sophomore Christian Matos led Methacton with 17 points and Alex Hermann added 15, with 11 of them in the final frame. After rallying from 18 down, the Wildcats led by one early in the fourth before Methacton returned to the ascendancy. Luke Fryer led all scorers with 21 points, with 14 of them coming in the third quarter.
