Perk Valley wins shootout on Hanlon’s game-winner

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 13, UPPER ST. CLAIR 12 >> Perk Valley rallied to victory in the final three minutes of a non-league shootout with District 7’s Upper St. Clair, getting the game-winning goal from Luke Hanlon with 21 seconds remaining on Friday.

Bryce Coletta was the offense force for PV while scoring seven, including the game-tying goal with 2:14 to play. Hanlon had a goal and two assists.

Patrick Lamirande had three goals and an assist, Patrick Moloney had a goal and two assists and James Herb had five caused turnovers.

Christian Jones made 10 saves for PV.

TWIN VALLEY 13, PHOENIXVIL­LE

5 >> Will Linko scored four times and assisted on Phoenixvil­le’s other goal scored by Finn Blanton, while Cole Hathaway, Bennett Hathaway and Brady O’Donnell all picked up an assist for the Phantoms. Nico Tenbroeck made 14 saves in the losing effort.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 10, UPPER

PERKIOMEN 4 >> Upper Perkiomen had a competitiv­e start against CB East, trailing just 2-1 after one quarter before the Patriots started pulling away. Mia Schneider scored twice for the Indians, while Abby Orsini had a goal, ground ball and caused turnover and Maggie Milkowich chipped in a goal, three draw controls and two ground balls. MARPLE NEWTOWN 17, UPPER MERION 4 >> Elisa Dougherty, Chelsea Smith, Mackenzie Davis and Olivia Smith all scored goals for Upper Merion, but the Vikings couldn’t keep up with Marple Newtown’s explosive offense in the non-league contest. Five Marple players scored multiple goals — Emily Frescoln (four), Jonica Wark (three), Arianna Coughlan (two), Lizzie Getz (two) and Brynn Battersby (two).

DANIEL BOONE 11, POTTSTOWN 4 >> McKenna Smith scored 6 goals and Boone pulled away in the second half of a non-league win over Pottstown.

Maya Lilick, Jayda McClune, Brynn McClune and Aaliyah Johnson scored one goal each for the Trojans while Amelia LePage made 15 saves.

Zoey Schaffer tallied twice for the Blazers.

BASEBALL

COATESVILL­E 3, PHOENIXVIL­LE 1 >> Christian Cervino, Nico Nattle and Kevin Kingsbury combined to throw seven solid innings for host Phoenixvil­le, allowing just one earned run while striking out nine Coatesvill­e batters in the Doc Kennedy Tournament. Ryan Jacobson had two of the Phantoms’ four hits, and Tommy Whitesel went 1-for-3 and knocked in the lone Phoenixvil­le run. DANIEL BOONE 15, CHESTER 0 (4 INNINGS) >> Daniel Boone erupted for 15 runs and 12 hits in the Doc Kennedy Tournament at Phoenixvil­le, taking care of Chester in just four innings. The Blazers advanced to the tournament’s championsh­ip game, originally scheduled for Saturday but ultimately postponed due to inclement weather. Nicolas Gualtieri (2-for-2, 2B, SB, 2 runs), Chase Yenser (2-for4, 2B, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Ryan Kriebel (2-for-4, 2B, SB, 2 runs, 4 RBI) and Anthony Cizmarik (2-for-2, SB, run, RBI) all had multiple hits for Boone. Alex Hughes and Blake Jeitles teamed up to throw four shutout innings on just three hits, striking out nine and walking none. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 6, QUAKERTOWN 3 >> Perkiomen picked up its first win of the season as Jared Pagan (four innings, two strikeouts) got the win on the mound, with Henry Clausell picking up the save with three strikeouts over the final two frames. Cesar Lopez got the scoring going in the top of the first with a two-run, bases loaded double, while Kross Howarth had a big two-out hit in the sixth to put Perkiomen up by three runs. Erick Diaz went 2-for-3 with a triple and two stolen bases while making five putouts in centerfiel­d.

EXETER TOWNSHIP 12, POTTSGROVE 4 >> Brandon McGinley started on the mound for Pottsgrove, yielding two earned runs in two innings while also belting a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Gabe Rinda had three hits for the Falcons and Owen Mountz went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Pottsgrove made seven errors in the field that led to four unearned runs and eight of Exeter’s nine batters had at least one hit in the game.

SOFTBALL LANSDALE CATHOLIC 8,

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 1 >> Perkiomen managed just three singles against Lansdale Catholic starter Lauren Leshak, who pitched a complete game and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 17. Claudia Knowles struck out nine Lansdale batters and also stole two bases on offense. Kenna Tobin went 1-for-3 at the plate, scored Perk’s only run and stole a base. Kelsey McMillan swiped two bags in the non-league loss. PHOENIXVIL­LE 15, RADNOR 0 (4 INNINGS) >> Phoenixvil­le scored plenty of runs, but the story for the Phantoms was freshman Katie Clarke tossing four perfect innings in a dominant victory with five strikeouts.
