REIMAGINED RIVERFRONT
Housing, retail and entertainment site planned
A company aiming to build a four-story housing, retail and entertainment mixed-use development along the borough’s riverfront has received another infusion of cash from the state.
Riverfront at Royersford LLC is the developer for the project of the same name, first proposed several years ago, and located adjacent to the refurbished railroad bridge, now a pedestrian and bike trail crossing, that will connect Royersford to Spring City and the
Schuylkill River Trail.
The company received $335,000 in funding from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, state Rep. Joe Ciresi, D-146th Dist., announced.
Specifically, the money is to pay for the second phase of a trail that will run along the river and lead from the development project into Limerick Township.
“The trail will be part of a proposed interconnected trail and sidewalk network connecting Limerick Township, the downtowns
of Royersford and Spring City, and the Schuylkill River Trail, improving walkability and connectivity, and enhancing the quality of life in this area of Montgomery County,” Ciresi said in a press release. “This state funding is a wise investment in Montgomery County’s future.”
This latest grant will pay for Phase II construction of an eight-foot-wide trail along the Schuylkill River in Royersford Borough and Limerick Township, accommodating both pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Riverfront at Royersford LLC previously received $330,000 to begin Phase 1 of the trail construction
from the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program in 2021, according to Ciresi’s office.
Phase 1 of the trail planned for the construction of 1,740 linear feet ending just short of the Limerick Township line. With the awarded funding for Phase 2, this next phase will pick up the trail at the Phase 1 terminus, extend the trailway an additional 1,748 linear feet into Limerick Township, and come to completion at the end of the Riverfront at Royersford property line.
