McCloskey announces bid for 146th Dist. Pa. House seat
He will face incumbent Democrat Joe Ciresi in November
Mike McCloskey, a local businessman and Limerick Township supervisor, has officially announced his candidacy for state representative in Pennsylvania’s 146th House District.
He will face incumbent Democrat Joe Ciresi in the November election. McCloskey is unopposed in the Republican primary that concludes on April 23.
“I am honored to announce my candidacy for State Representative in the 146th District. My business acumen and love for community service are the driving force behind my passion to serve. Running for office isn’t a joke to me,” McCloskey said in a press release announcing his candidacy.
“Pennsylvania has serious issues, and I’ve got the experience and insight to provide solutions. Unlike a lot of the empty suits in Harrisburg, I act, and if elected, I will work tirelessly to deliver real change for our district,” said McCloskey.
Having spent nearly two decades building businesses in farming, land development, and restaurants, McCloskey said he understands first-hand the importance of economic growth and job creation. As a job creator himself, he is dedicated to fostering an environment where businesses can thrive and where residents have access to diverse employment opportunities.
As a Limerick Township supervisor, McCloskey said he has advocated for responsible governance practices, fiscal prudence, and community development. Additionally, his philanthropic efforts, include support for organizations aiding the homeless and initiatives benefiting seniors.
McCloskey’s initial forays into the working world, as a gas station attendant and pizza delivery driver, instilled in him the importance of reliability and dedication.
After graduating from public high school and college, Mike went to work as an assistant, customer service representative, and
eventually worked his way up to be a director for a major home builder in Montgomery County.
In 2005, Mike decided it was time to make his own mark in the professional world. That’s when
he started his own businesses, in farming, land development, and restaurants. Over nearly two decades, he has been not just a businessman, but a mentor and a provider of opportunities, employing hundreds from diverse backgrounds. He often offers second chances to individuals reintegrating post-incarceration.
McCloskey has a 10-year tenure on the Limerick Township Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Board and is currently a Limerick Township Supervisor, where he has opposed unnecessary spending increases and property tax hikes.
He routinely buys local Girl Scouts’ entire stock of cookies and contributes significantly to Beacon of Hope in Pottstown, where he aids the homeless through both volunteer efforts and financial support.
