anxious for the first meet to see what competition draws out of them. I expect a season of PRS (personal records).”

Returning letterwinners included senior Caleb Christy and sophomores Connor Henry and Faith Rock. Newcomers to watch are sophomores Charlie Lemberis and Alex Menting, along with freshmen Lauren Edison and Sam Lillie.

“I’m excited to represent Laville at HNAC with a full boys team,” added Ecker. “Faith ran very well in her inaugural season last year and Lauren is a great competitor who is close behind her. I think they will both have very strong seasons this year. Sam ran for me two years ago as a 7th grader and medaled in several races. He looks very strong right now.

“I have a very young team. This year is about experience and learning how to run the 5K. As long as they do what I ask and work hard to improve week in and week out to show they are growing, nothing else matters. For some of the team being able to make it to the end of the course without walking is a goal. Sure it would be exciting to win some big meets but there is a huge difference between inexperienced freshmen and sophomores versus seasoned juniors and seniors.”

One of the highlights on the schedule will be running in the huge New Prairie Invitational.

“The New Prairie Invitational is a must,” concluded Ecker. “That is one of my favorite courses. It really pushes you and the feeling of accomplishment is indescribable. I am so excited for the team to experience this.”
