PLYMOUTH — Krysta Magee, event organizer for the annual Saint Michael Parish fundraiser, hopes to raise over $20,000 this year.

This will be her third year leading the event. The theme for this year’s ball and auction is the “Roaring 20’s”.

Dinner choices include are prime rib or salmon. The event will be held at Christo’s Banquet Center on Saturday, January 25. Appetizers will be served at 5:30 p.m. The dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a silent auction held during the dinner portion of the evening; followed by a live auction toward the end of the evening. T J Pratt will be the DJ for the evening.

Saint Michael parish was established in 1861. The school has 173 students; kindergarten through 8th grade.

Magee noted a common misconception that private schools have a lot of money; that is not the case for Saint Michael. She wanted to do more to help sustain the school she attended as a child, and where her own children spent their grade school days. “It’s just such a special place. It’s like a family. That’s why I started to help more. I knew I needed to do more.”

Magee hopes to raise enough funds to upgrade the teachers computers. The white boards need to be replaced, but screens are being considered.

Saint Michael has a computer lab and the use of ipads is implemented into some of their curriculum, but the school is not one to one technology.

The lights in the gymnasium need updated, LED is being considered. Though installation would be more costly, the energy efficiency would provide long term savings.

Anyone who would like to donate an item to the silent auction should contact Magee. Donations need received by January 22 to be

included on the printed program.

All are welcome. The event is not limited to members of Saint Michael Parish. Magee smiled, “It’s a fun night!”

Magee said, “We couldn’t do this without the generosity of Christ Kurtis (owner of Christo’s).”

Christo’s Banquet Hall is located at 830 Lincoln Highway East, Plymouth. Tickets are on sale now for $40 each. They can be picked up in the school office. Contact Magee at davismagee@yahoo.com to purchase tickets, make a donation or for more information.
