Executive Director of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Connie Holzwart released an announcement Wednesday that the annual Downtown Plymouth Trick or Treat event has been cancelled.

Holzwart indicated that she had spoken with administrator of the Marshall County Health Department ashley Garcia Monday about the event.

“To hold the event,

a plan would need to be submitted to the Health Department. Several areas of concern were discussed including the size of the crowd (approximately 1500 people), social distancing (impossible to enforce), and most importantly the risk of exposing a child to virus. Due to these factors, Downtown Plymouth Trick or Treat is cancelled.”

Culver Clerk Treasurer Karen Heim verified that Halloween and trick or treat will be on the agenda for the next Culver Town Council meeting which will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22.

The Town of Bourbon approved Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for trick or treat. The decision was made pending recommendations by the Marshall County Health Department to cancel the annual costume competition.

Argos Clerk Treasurer Lisa Mullaney confirmed that the Argos Town Council was scheduled to discuss Halloween and trick or treat during the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 16. The decision made the council will be included in a follow-up article by Assistant Editor James Master who covers Argos.

City of Plymouth Secretary Laura Mann confirmed that the City of Plymouth Neighborhood Trick or Treat will be on Saturday, October 31st from 5 p.m. til 7 p.m. “If you wish to participate, please turn your porch light on so all the ghosts and goblins know which houses to stop at to collect their treats.”

As of Wednesday afternoon we had not yet heard back from the Town of Bremen.

A follow-up will be printed when more information is obtained.
