Bremen student receives Lilly scholarship, Triton student runner-up
Thirty-one students around Marshall County applied for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship, and two local students had their achievements recognized in the process.
The scholarship offers full tuition and $900 per year for books and school equipment to the winning student of each participating community.
Bremen High School student Mark Bahr took this year’s scholarship. Bahr is the son of Tim and Jackie Bahr. He plans to attend the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
The scholarship is awarded after applications are reviewed by the Lilly Scholarship Selection Committee, and inter
views are conducted of several applicants.
The final selection is made by the Independent Colleges of Indiana, a nonprofit that represents universities and grant programs.
The scholarship program isn’t just beneficial to the winning student, as exemplified by Triton High School student Maddie Ritchison, who was named first runner up to the Marshall County scholarship.
Ritchison has been working towards this scholarship since her freshman year and has been able to hold a GPA of 4.132, an SAT score of 1480, and have spent just over 400 hours of community service over the past four years.
“I am very honored to have been selected as the first runner-up of this scholarship and congratulate the first place winner on this outstanding achievement. I am planning on attending either the University of Notre Dame or Grace College to study accounting”, said
