Marizetta Kenney

Marizetta Kenney, 78, died on Feb. 17.

Marizetta was born Feb. 13, 1943 to Harold and Martha Robinson in Laporte. She graduated from Culver High School in 1962 and earned degrees in German and Library Science from Indiana University and Rosary College in Illinois. She married Harold Ray Kenney on Feb. 22, 1969.

She served the community as a librarian in Elkhart, Plymouth, Argos, and Culver; as clerk-treasurer for the town of Culver for more than a decade; and as a administra­tive assistant for Culver Community Schools until her retirement.

Marizetta taught piano to a number of area children over the years and played piano for numerous production­s of the Maxinkucke­e Players and Maxinkucke­e Singers, as well as serving as pianist for several area churches through the years. She also served in volunteer roles with the Culver EMS, American Diabetes Associatio­n, and Antiquaria­n & Historical Society of Culver, among others.

Marizetta is survived by daughter Alethea (David Bainbridge), son Jeff (Beth) Kenney, and grandchild­ren Cecilia, Peter, Esme’, Felicity, Becket, Kateri, Francis, and Finnian Kenney.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and brother John (Tere) Robinson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Culver, with visitation starting at 11 a.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Culver EMS or St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver.
