No. 1 Ancilla tops No. 10 Mott, stays unbeaten

PLYMOUTH — No. 1 Ancilla College used a big second half to run away from No. 10 Mott Community College on Friday night at the Lifeplex in Plymouth. the undefeated Chargers (13-0) scored 58 second-half points on their way to the 102-76 victory over the Bears.

Cortney Shorter hit six three-point baskets and led Ancilla with 20 points, while Jakylen thomas came off the bench to score 19. Rico Swanson, Jr. scored 13 points and handed out 12 assists. Brock Cosey returned to the starting line-up and added 12 points, with Marco Beverly scoring 11.

Ancilla closes Michigan Community College Athletic Associatio­n play on tuesday when they host Midmichiga­n at 7:30 p.m. the Chargers will travel to play Henry Ford on April 3 to close out the regular season. Ancilla has already clinched the West Region title in the MCCAA and will be a No. 1 seed heading into the NJCAA Region 12 tournament where they will host the first game on April 8.
