April is National Poetry month
today is my day, a special day, the day of my birth.
A day, when after two souls had united in passion and
love became one flesh and, in the fullness of time, gave forth a birth.
A day when a mother, alone with God, entered into the
valley of the shadow of death, so dark and miserable,
travailing in pain unsurpassable, laboring to deliver
forth that sunshine of life to her own special child.
And it was so! A day when God breathed into this soul the breath of
life, and a new earthly father choked with emotion said,
“thank you” to his wife.
A day which had a new beginning, a new life to be
lived, a world to be explored, a heart to experience the
love and hate, the good and bad, to know the emotions of
feelings unexplainable.
A day which began the timetable of the hands of time
moving forward in life counting the days and the weeks and
the years, trying to live a full life on this earthly journey; embracing life. A day which paradoxically is the beginning point of our
countdown of our time left on the same journey grasping at
every hour, minute, and second we have to enjoy life at its
fullest, defying death’s knock.
A day which says I’m a special person. I
had a beginning. I’m a being, alive, unique. Not another personality exactly like me. A feeling of elation, contentment, satisfaction, and love.
Yes, today is my day, a special day, my one and only day of birth.
