It’s National Poetry Month
By Angela Resendez
Addiction,
An all-consuming and
Never-ending
Yearning.
A cyclical thought and
Process of wanting
Beyond reason,
Without limitations,
Without reservations…
A sacrificial jumping on the fire.
No matter how hot or
High the bonfire rages.
It takes your breath.
And you give it freely.
What does love require? Everything.
And all things.
All at once
And forever.
Spirals
By Brett A. STARR
Spirals! Spirals! Everywhere!
Over here and over there
In the garden, in the air
Did you ever stop and stare?
Flowers, pine cones, it all seems
Patterns come through natural means
Numerical puzzles to make us think
Just pull the light chain. Hear it clink?
Ocean waves and hurricanes
We label them with proper names
Here’s a microcosmic hint
Just look upon your fingerprint.
Spirals! Spirals! Everywhere!
Over here and over there.
Did you know it? Do you care?
This is what I came to share.
The Pilot News is seeking local poets to submit their own poem for publication in the newspaper. We will be printing them throughout the month of April as they are submitted.
Submissions are subject to editorial approval. Please limit all poems to less than 500 words.
Vulgar content/language will not be accepted. Send all submissions to jmaster@thepilotnews.com.
If you’re interested in ways to celebrate other than writing a poem, head to www.poets.org for further details.
