MC Soil and Water Conservati­on District receives grant

Country Resource Conservati­on District (RC&D) awards grants annually for conservati­on projects through a competitiv­e applicatio­n and review process. Marshall County Soil and Water Conservati­on District (SWCD) is pleased to announce it has received a $2,500 grant from the Arrowhead Country RC&D for an invasive species removal bounty, specifical­ly targeting ornamental pear trees. The bounty program is entitled “Pretty Invasive Pears” and it will be a 75% cost-share program for Marshall County homeowners that will reimburse them up to $500 to remove an invasive pear and replace it with a beneficial native tree.

Arrow Head Country Resource Conservati­on and Developmen­t Area (RC&D) Inc. is a non-profit organizati­on made up of Cass, Fulton, Jasper, Kosciusko, Marshall, Miami, Newton, Pulaski, Starke and White counties in Indiana.

The purpose of the organizati­on is to provide local leadership for developing and carrying out a plan for the orderly conservati­on, improvemen­t, developmen­t and wise use of the natural resources, thereby improving the quality of life for all the people living in designated RC&D areas.
