Busy spring for area athletes playing in college (Part II)

Here is Part II of the latest follow-up on area athletes who are continuing to compete at the college level. This list is by no means all-inclusive. Some athletes are not in their seasons and for others, we at the Pilot News are just not aware of where they are and what sport they are playing. mckenna myers (Bremen HS) and Caitlin traxler

(Bremen HS) continue to make large contributi­ons to the St. Mary’s College softball team. Myers (1B/ OF) has played in 19 games and is batting .373 with two HRS and 11 RBIS. Traxler has played in 20 games and is batting .309 with six doubles, two triples, two HRS and 15 RBIS. Pitching-wise, she has appeared in seven games, with six starts. Her record is 3-4 with an ERA of 3.96 in 23 innings. She has struck out 11 and walked 20.

Blake Reed (Plymouth HS) and Caden Beckwith

(Culver Academy HS) are members of the Wabash College track and field team.

During the indoor season, Reed placed sixth in the 200m (24.02) and Beckwith fifth in the 400m (53.49) as the Little Giants won a three-way meet against Wittenburg University and Depauw University to begin the season. The next week at Denison (Ohio), Reed placed second in the 60m (7.43) and third in the 200m (23.75). At the Depauw Triangular Meet Reed was part of the winning 4x200m relay team (1:35.5). Most recently, Wabash finished second out of five schools at the Depauw Quad Meet April 17. Reed was 12th in the 100m (11.52) and 11th in the 200m (23.16). The team’s last meet is Apr. 23.

Thomas Dolan (Plymouth HS) was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored leading off in Bethel University’s April 17 baseball game, a 5-2 win over

Goshen College. Dolan has played in 23 games with 17 starts. He is batting .302.

Karly Unruh (Plymouth HS), Breann Milam (Culver HS) and Alyxa Viers (Triton HS) are all on the Ancilla College women’s softball team. Unruh has played in all 14 games (SS/3B) this spring and is batting .302 with 13 hits, three doubles and 7 RBIS. Milam has played in all 14 games (2B/OF) and has five hits. Viers has played in six games (1B/C).

Isaiah Herbster (Laville HS) pitched two innings of relief for the Grace College baseball team in the win over Marian University last weekend. He

allowed two hits, one run (earned), struck out two and walked one. Batting, he has 15 at bats with two hits, three runs scored and one RBI.

Robbie Berger (Glenn HS) was the winning pitcher for IUSB’S baseball team last week to run his record to 4-3 on the season. He has an ERA of 3.76 and has allowed 24 runs, struck out 40 and walked 11 in 38.1 innings.

Audie Plothow (Plymouth HS) just completed her spring tennis season at Bethel University. The team had a 7-2 record during that time. She was 1-1 in singles and 12-10 in doubles, mostly at No. 3.
