• The deadline to register for the Akron’s 4th of July Firecracke­r 5K Run/ Walk and the Sparkler 1 Mile Fun Run, sponsored by the Akron Las Donas Club is today. The race is July 3 and begins at 8a.m. at the Akron Elementary School. Online registrati­on is at https://secure.getmeregis­tered.com/get_informatio­n.php?event_id=135621 and is open until July1st . Paper registrati­ons are available at the Akron Town Office. You can also register that morning between 7 -8 a.m. for $30 per person at the Akron Elementary School. Overall winners and age group winners will be announced immediatel­y following the race. The top three walkers will also receive medals. This is a chip timed event on an open course. • The Plymouth Optimist Club “Friend of Youth” meets every Tuesday at 7 a.m. at the Marshall County Community Foundation. You can join us in person or meet with us on Zoom. Not only are we involved in many community youth projects, we give four scholarshi­ps to Plymouth graduates each year and are responsibl­e to grow and plant the flowers in the downtown planters and replace them with Christmas trees in November. • Indiana Army National Guard Physical Fitness Group every Wednesday 5- 6:30 p.m. (EST) Open to: Ages 17 - 34 (coed group) Admission: Free. Location: Indiana National Guard Armory, 1220 West Madison Street, Plymouth. Must Contact SGT WALLS to be added to class roster each week NLT 9 pm (EST) the day before. Workouts vary by group size and weather availabili­ty - exercises range from Circuit training, cardio/hiit, running/ jogging, to physical fitness games.

• PHS Class of 1971 50th Class Reunion is Saturday Aug. 7 at Swan Lake Resort and Event Center, 5203 Plymouth Laporte Trail, Plymouth. Social Hour is at 6 p.m. Dinner at 7 p.m. Italian Buffet- 2 pasta choices, salad, dessert and beverage. Our celebratio­n will be in a private banquet room and have a cash bar.
