PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Community School Board (PCSC) held their regular meeting Tuesday evening which was open to the public starting at 7 p.m. at the administration Building.

The meeting opened with a public hearing regarding teacher compensation before starting private and formal negotiations. There was no public testimony on that agenda item. The public hearing was closed.

The 2022 Budget Hearing followed the regular school board meeting Tuesday evening. The meeting was open to the public at the administration building.

The previously held budget workshop had gone over the recommendations in detail. Kandi Tinkey gave a summary of the recommendations to the

board for approval before publication.

The debt service amount totals $5,415,523.00. The proposed budget includes $600,000 for the rainy day fund, $22,291,216 for the education fund, and the operations fund is $9,008,469.

The bus replacement plan for 2022 includes three busses in the amount of $315,000. This is included within the operations fund request. No busses were traded in last year. The busses were maintained.

The board approved that the recommendations be posted publicly. The board will be asked to approve the Ordinance of Resolution for appropriations and tax rates at the next meeting which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 5.

PCSC Superintendent Mitch Mawhorter was scheduled for an informal negotiation meeting with Laura Kruyer of the Plymouth Education Association and Tinkey Wednesday.

During Superintendent remarks he expressed gratitude for the support he has received since taking on his new role. He has been taking tours of schools within the corporation.

He concluded, “I want to send out a big thank you to everyone who helped out at the Blueberry Festival. Such a wonderful event. The donuts were amazing.”

Before the meeting closed Kruyer noted a clarification for public record, “Plymouth Education Association is always in favor of a base pay increase, not necessarily a stipend. But we understood that it was a discussible item with the ultimate decision resting on the board.”

The notice to the tax payers can be found on the school’s website at www.plymouth.k12.in.us.
