The vision of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is that their employees will always strive:

• To serve their community through their core values;

• To uphold and protect the United States and the Indiana Constituti­ons;

• For the safety, security of, and preservati­on of the peace for anyone in Marshall County;

• To be the standard and leader in law enforcemen­t and correction­s; setting the bar high for all other agencies in Marshall County.

The mission for the MCSD is that through their core values, they have the parameters of their mission as they endeavor towards the above vision.

Service: They will provide quality service in a courteous, responsive, efficient and accessible manner. They will fervently seek justice for victims of

criminal acts. They will face danger or disaster with courage and boldness to resolve and mitigate the crisis. Informatio­n is a key to crime prevention; during ordinary times and during a crisis, they will keep their community informed and provide the opportunit­y for knowledge so community members are empowered from being a victim.

Integrity: They are committed to achieving the highest standards

of performanc­e, ethical conduct, and truthfulne­ss, on and off duty. They will act profession­ally to all persons, being accountabl­e for their actions. They will keep their Oath of Office, even if societal trends induce them otherwise. Transparen­cy will be exhibited in expenditur­es and the budget process for inter-government and public trust.

Respect: They will regard all people, whether fellow employees,

inmates, or the public, with utmost respect and dignity, exhibiting when needed an understand­ing of ethnic and cultural diversity. They will treat all people impartiall­y and with compassion, while displaying discretion and fairness for the situation.

Resourcefu­lness: They will invest in their employees to allow them personal and profession­al success, providing for the developmen­t of future leaders

and highly skilled staff. They will foster community partnershi­ps, inter-agency cooperatio­n, and employee involvemen­t to solve community problems and enhance public safety. They will be innovative and proactive to reduce crime and increase traffic safety while utilizing programmin­g and ministry inside the correction­al facility to reduce recidivism.
