Theresa Rosina Anderson

Theresa Rosina Anderson, 87, of Bloomingto­n, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021 at her daughter’s home. Born April 23, 1934 in Plymouth, she was the youngest daughter of Francis and Frances Houin.

Theresa was a graduate of Plymouth High School and attended Ancilla Domini College.

Though Theresa had hoped to become a doctor, she instead directed her lifelong interest in healing and holistic well-being to becoming a masseuse, a Reiki Master Teacher, and was experience­d in herbal and natural medicine. She was a hospital chaplain for many years at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka and Plymouth where she developed and conducted a program to help families with the trauma of miscarriag­e and stillbirth.

Theresa was the West Township Trustee secretary for 19 years, a co-founder of the Plymouth Blueberry Festival, and was a member of the Marshall County Horse Associatio­n. Theresa was a published writer having written articles for several magazines and newspapers as well as authoring a book and co-authoring a second book. She was an accomplish­ed visual artist in paint, pastel, pencil, and photograph­y. She enjoyed nature, gardening, farm-living, and most of all, her family.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lloyd Anderson; daughters Kristine (Kelly) Walsh, of Bloomingto­n, Sharon (David) Dickson, of Bloomingto­n, and Marianne (Jeff) Neuman of Sylvania, Ohio; six grandchild­ren, five great-grandchild­ren, and one brother, Lawrence Houin. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Elmer, Carl, Leo, and Bernard Houin, and sisters Irene Wenzel, Sister Mary Frances, and Catherine Haeck.

Theresa has donated her body to the Indiana University School of Medicine Anatomical Education Program. No funeral or memorial service is planned.
