Hayward W. Stuntz

Hayward Warren Stuntz, 95, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Feb. 17, 2022, in his home in Plymouth, Indiana.

Hayward was born to Ervin and Cecil (Swoverland) Stuntz on Dec. 29, 1926. He married the love of his life Ernestine Joyce Leeper on July 30, 1950.

Hayward enjoyed a full and exciting life. He took great pleasure in sharing his adventures with friends and relatives; especially his grandsons. During his life he was in the Merchant Marines during WWII, a potato sacks tier in Montana which he claimed was the only job he did not enjoy, lived and worked in a fire tower in the Montana wilderness, worked the family farm, owned his own business where he built miles upon miles of fences along major highways with the Operating Engineers union, grew Christmas trees, sold their “Treasures” at the Groverton flea market and delivered caskets for Aurora Casket Co.

In his spare time he loved to fly his Ercoupe airplane and ride motorcycle­s. In fact, he rode motorcycle­s from an early age until 90 years old.

Hayward is survived by: his daughters; Sherry (Jeff) Fulton, Ginger Riley (Joel Baker), Bonnie (Larry) Bollenbach­er; son Todd (Jill) Stuntz. Granddaugh­ter Angie (Jason) Strobel; Grandsons Christophe­r Riley, Alan Bollenbach­er, Alex Bollenbach­er, and his sister Maryln Hochstetle­r. Brother-in-laws; Dennis (Cindy) Leeper, Leon (Eunice) Leeper, many nieces and nephews as well as his special companion “Allis” his cat.

Hayward was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Teenie/ernie, daughter Teri, brother Howard (June) Stuntz, sister Elnora (Robert) Soales; granddaugh­ter Stephanie Fulton, and grandson Jonathan Bollenbach­er.

Hayward was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Hayward has generously donated his body to the Anatomical Education Program at Indiana University School of Medicine.

There will not be a service per Hayward’s request. His family would like to give a special thank you to the Hospice care givers who treated Hayward with respect and kindness.
