Lavonda E. Nuce, 84, a resident of Largo, Florida for the past 46 years passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center. The daughter of Luther and Nancy (Nannie Lou) Hale, Lavonda was born in Truman, Arkansas on Oct. 31, 1937. She moved with her family to Plymouth, Indiana at an early age where she graduated from Plymouth High School in 1955.

On April 29, 2000, Lavonda and John B. Nuce were married and resided in Fairway Villas. John passed away on Feb. 28, 2020.

Lavonda loved travel and along with her husband John traveled extensivel­y for several years enjoying cruising and Rving. She was an avid golfer participat­ing in ladies’ leagues and enjoyed bowling and quilting. Most recently, she enjoyed her beloved kitty “Boots” and visiting with friends and family.

Lavonda owned and operated a hair salon for several year in Largo before going back to school in the 1980’s to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Throughout her career as a nurse, she worked in the home health field where she cared for many patients in a various settings. Even after her retirement she would get calls asking her to work private duty to help a loved one, and often she would help out. It was always a joke with family that she never truly retired from nursing.

Lavonda is survived by her three children and their spouses from a previous marriage. Daughters Sherri and husband Ira Reynolds, Clermont, Florida: Beth and husband Dave Scott, Ft. Myers, Florida, and son Ralph David and wife Kathy Hatfield, Largo, Florida: She is also survived by three grandchild­ren, three great-grandchild­ren and four stepchildr­en. Lavonda was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, Luther and Nancy Hale and her brother Ralph Hale. National Cremation Society in Clearwater, Florida is handling her final wishes. Friends and family will be invited to a Celebratio­n of Life for Lavonda in April once arrangemen­ts are finalized. Memorial contributi­ons in Lavonda’s memory may be made to Alzheimer’s/dementia Associatio­n.
