Tippecanoe River – Wythougan Chapter News
Members of the Tippecanoe River-wythougan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met April 12 at the Museum Meeting Room, Plymouth. Anita Kopetski and Naomi Podlesak led the Ritual and pledges. Chapter Regent, Cheryl Ball presided.
Linda Overmyer summarized the purpose of the Women’s Issues Committee and Cheryl Ball the duties of the American Heritage committee.
Helen Johnson presented the National Defense report on POW Bracelets. She also updated the members on the Veterans Banner Program. The banners should be ready for display before the end of May.
Members were reminded to plant a pollinator garden; and, to continue to bring items for Operation Quiet Comfort packages. The formation of a DAR Chapter Book Club was also discussed and delegates to State Conference were elected.
DAR member, Deb Mcclain presented a very interesting and humorous program on Bird Watching in Indiana. Beginning with a short biography of John Audubon, she then shared various literary magazines and books that are available. Mrs. Mcclain told of her experiences in observing the Great Blue Herron at the Pulaski Game Reserve and approximately 40 Eagles at the Seven Pillars Nature Preserve. She has also had experience in banding birds. Members enjoyed hearing the very interesting facts about owls and the Indiana State Bird, The Cardinal.

The next chapter meeting will be Tuesday, May 10. Mr. Don Szombathy, will share his life experiences in Hungary before immigrating to America in 1965.
