Poisel family celebrates milestone!

-

PHOTO PROVIDED For some, family is everything. That is certainly the case for the Moses Family. Marie (Woodward) Moses, a resident at Greenleaf in Elkhart, Indiana, has reached a beautiful milestone. She is the current matriarch of five generations of her family. Marie, and her late husband Alfred Moses, have four children (Karen (Ben) Leazenby, Linda (Gary) Meeks, David (Brenda) Moses, Dennis (Cheryl) Moses) They also have 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The generations represented here include her youngest son Dennis Moses, Dennis’s oldest daughter Chantel (Jim) Poisel, Chantel’s oldest daughter Samantha (Connor) Rains, and the newest addition is Samantha’s son Wesley Rains. The four youngest generations pictured here all live in the Marshall County area.

Marie has worked hard to keep her family close. Each year the family table has to expand more and more to accommodate upwards of 35 people. It’s no small feat to try to get that many people together at once. Marie’s oldest daughter, Karen, has taken over the planning and does a great job getting everyone together as often as possible. When the lockdowns made gatherings risky, the family did a Christmas drive-by to make sure Marie could see everyone and know how much she is loved. She is very special to her family.

This is the second generation in a row in which Marie’s family has hit the five-generation milestone. When Samantha was born, Marie’s parents Theodore and Hazel Woodward were still living. Marie will be 91 this month, and is so excited that she was able to welcome her great-great grandson and reach this family milestone.
