Nadeen Zolman Cumberland, age 97 of Mishawaka, IN, formerly Bourbon, IN, passed away on May 14, 2022 in South Bend, IN.

Nadeen Zolman Cumberland was born June 5, 1924 at home near Burket, Indiana. She had a twin sister, Eileen. She graduated from Burket High School in 1942. Nadeen went from her high school graduation to her minister’s home and married Warren Cumberland. They lived in a small house on his parent’s farm after their marriage, until Warren was drafted. Warren was sent to Ft. Sam Houston in Texas before he was transferred to California. Once he was stationed in California, Nadeen went there to be with him until he was sent to the Philippines. Warren brought Nadeen back to Indiana where she lived with her mother. Their daughter, Naomi was born after he shipped out and he did not see her until she was 18 months old.

When Warren returned from the service, he decided to go to pharmacy school at Indianapolis College of Pharmacy, which is now Butler University College of Pharmacy. After graduating from college, Warren and Nadeen purchased the pharmacy in Bourbon, formerly Heisler Pharmacy, and it became Cumberland Pharmacy. They operated Cumberland Pharmacy for over 40 years and were a vital part of the Bourbon Community. Nadeen was a member of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church. After Warren’s death in 2003, Nadeen remained in the Bourbon Community until 2012. She moved to Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw until 2014 when she moved to South Bend to be near her daughter. She has been at the Caring Cottage the last 6 years under the wonderful care of Glenda and Mike Brown along with their staff.

Nadeen is survived by her daughter, Naomi Rea of Mishawaka, IN; her grandchildren: Jeff Rea (Raelee) of South Bend, IN: Julie Rea of New Bern, NC; Joel Rea (Marla) of Salmon, ID; her great-grandchildren: Zachary Stabrowski; Noah Stabrowski; Carly Stabrowski; and Brenna Hudson.
