BHS senior receives prestigious scholarship

Lextin Willis is the recipient of the prestigious
Lilly Endowment
Scholarship as presented by the Community
Foundation of St.
Joseph County
(CFSJC). This scholarship will provide full tuition, required fees, and a $900/ year stipend for required books and equipment for up to 4 years of undergraduate studies. Lextin plans to use the scholarship to attend Taylor University and major in sports management. He is the 14th BHS graduate to receive the scholarship.
Willis interviewed for the scholarship on Nov. 1, 2021. although he did not receive the scholarship at that time, he was an alternate choice, if any of the recipients declined the scholarship offer. On May 10, Willis was informed by the CFSJC program officer that one of the other recipients declined the scholarship.
The Lilly Endowment Scholarship is a state level program designed to raise
educational attainment levels in Indiana, increase awareness of local community foundations, and improve the quality of life in partnership with state leaders. It is administered by the Independent Colleges of Indiana and includes participation from community foundations across all of the counties in the state.
