Inaugural launch from Shumaker Park in Bremen last Saturday
On Saturday, May 14, a large group of adventurers took off from the kayak launch located in Shumaker Park. The plan was to paddle into Plymouth. Some of the participants got out at the bridge at Hickory Rd., saying that the exit was “pretty easy.” Reportedly, a float from Shumaker Park to Centennial Park in Plymouth should take five to six hours depending on river conditions and paddling speed. For those who prefer a shorter float, Shumaker to the bridge at Hickory Rd. takes approximately 2-3 hours. One participant said on Facebook that exiting the river at that point was “pretty easy.”
