Avis Louise Fackler

Avis Louise (Poulson) Fackler, age 93 of Etna Green, IN, passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2022.

Avis was born on Aug. 17, 1928 in Etna Green, IN. Her parents were Donald Poulson and Olive (Kelser) Poulson. She lived her entire life in Etna Green. She graduated from Etna Green High School and attended Northern Illinois State Teachers College for a short time, where she majored in music.

In May of 1948 she married William Fackler. They were married for 55 years. They have two sons, Bradley (Teresa) Fackler and Donald (Rhonda) Fackler. Avis worked in the Warsaw Branch of the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicles as a clerk and as a manager. After leaving the DMV, she became office manager and bookkeeper, replacing her mother, for Poulson Ford, until she retired.

Avis was a very accomplish­ed musician and played several instrument­s. For many years she played piano and organ for the Etna Green United Methodist Church, where she had been a lifelong member. Her musical accomplish­ments were all the more remarkable because for most of her life she had difficulty hearing.

Avis is survived by her sister, Ruth (Poulson) Klinefelte­r of Chattanoog­a, TN; her two sons: Brad and Don; her granddaugh­ters, Jennifer (Kyle) Collins; Sarah (Nick) Mallers; and her grandson, Adam (Erin) Fackler. She is also survived by six great-grandchild­ren: Mason Fackler; Merrick Fackler; Ames Collins; Lewis Collins; Maxwell Mallers; and Josie Mallers.

Avis is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Fackler; and her parents, Don and Olive Poulson.

There will be a graveside service for Avis on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Etna Green Cemetery (Etna Green, IN).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Triton Jr./sr. High School Band Department (300 Triton Dr., Bourbon, IN 46504).
