Plymouth HS hosting semi-state Saturday

PLYMOUTH — Volleyball fans have the chance to watch Final Four action from two different classes this weekend as Plymouth High School is one of four host sites for the IHSAA volleyball semi-state round of the state tournament taking place Saturday. The other locations are Frankfort,

Columbus East and Jasper.

At The Rock, the first match pits Class 1A schools Fort

(32-4) and Southwood (31-3) at 4 p.m. No. 5 Blackhawk defeated Marquette Catholic to win the Culver Regional.

Southwood was the winner of the Clinton Central Regional.

The Lady Knights played one area team during the regular season, defeating Culver Girls Academy, 2-1.

The second match has Northwood (28-6) from the Northern Lakes Conference up against Bellmont (29-6) in the Class 3A match. Starting time is approximat­ely 5:30 p.m. Northwood hosted a regional where it knocked out CGA and New Prairie without losing a set. During the regular season the Lady Panthers played area teams Plymouth (twice), Glenn, Triton and CGA, winning each match in straight sets. Bellmont, the Norwell Regional winner and ranked No. 4, has not played any area teams this year, but did face Northwood during the regular season. The Lady Braves won 3-0, with each game ending with a 26-24 score.

Admission is $12. All eight semi-state matches will stream at Ihsaatv.org.

Saturday’s winners advance to the state finals November 5 at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie. The state championsh­ip matches are as follows:

Class 1A 10:30 a.m.

Class 2A 1 p.m.

Class 3A 5 p.m.

Class 4A 8 p.m.
