Area centenaria­n, Elverta F. Moore, 103 years, 2 months, and 17 days was surrounded by her loving family when she departed this life on Nov. 12, 2022 at Life Care Center of Rochester.

On Aug. 26, 1919, Elverta Francis Stout was born in Monon. She was a treasured daughter of Dale and Emma Stotler Stout. Growing up she shared her childhood with three sisters and a brother. It was with great pride that Elverta graduated from Winamac High School with her class in 1939.

On Aug. 25, 1940 Elverta married John D. Moore in Winamac. They enjoyed 32 years of life's adventures. Sadly, he preceded her on May 4, 1972.

Left to cherish Elverta's memory are 2 daughters: Betty Charlene Ward of Argos, Treva Louise Murphy (Roger) of Plymouth, daughter-in-law Alberta L. Moore of Rochester, son-in-law Jim Vermillion of Plymouth 9 grandchild­ren: 20 great-grandchild­ren and 6 great-great-grandchild­ren.

Welcoming Elverta to Heaven are her parents, beloved husband John of 32 years, daughter Brenda Joyce Vermillion, and a son, Gerald Devon Moore, 3 sisters Leora Miller, Lola Anderson, Ruth Oliver, 2 brothers Kedrick Stout and an infant brother Richard Stout.

A celebratio­n of the life of Elverta F. Moore will be at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1010 West 9th Street, Rochester, Indiana. Pastor Thomas Myers will officiate. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Athens-hoover Cemetery.
