PHS ekes out win, 102.3 to 102.15
PLYMOUTH —The Plymouth gymnastics team hosted Elkhart on Thursday, Jan. 26. It was Senior Night for Kasi Harner, Tessa Hutchinson and managers Emma Erhart, Kylee Gaines and Emma Rozycki.
In a meet that was close all night, it came down to the final event to decide who came out on top. Plymouth by virtue of its floor scores defeated Elkhart 102.3 to 102.15. It was an important matchup because Plymouth will face Elkhart at the Wawasee Sectional in four weeks. Elkhart also edged out Plymouth for second place at their invitational back in December.
In the All-around competition for all four events, Tessa Hutchinson came in second with a total score of 35.15. Jersey Hunter was third with 34.65 points, and Kasi Harner was fourth with a score of 31.85.
In a true team effort, the Pilgrims had contributions from three other gymnasts who earned points in the victory with the third highest event score for Plymouth. Joy Everett had the third best score on the vault. Rowynn Halldavis earned the third best score for Plymouth on the bars. Lila Hanyzewski had the third best score on the beam. Arielle Ferman had the fourth best score for Plymouth on the floor, and also competed on bars.
