Two arrested for possession

On Friday, Feb. 10 at approximat­ely 12:50 a.m., Marshall County Officer Wozniak witnessed a black 2009 Ford SUV traveling 95 miles per hour southbound on U.S. 31 in the area of 12th Road. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop near 14C Road. During the investigat­ion, Marshall County Canine Officer Bennett and his canine partner “Diesel” were called to the scene to assist. The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics from the vehicle and officers located parapherna­lia that tested positive for cocaine, as well as marijuana and marijuana parapherna­lia.

The driver of the vehicle, William L. Biggs Jr., was taken into custody and to the Marshall County Jail for possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, possession of parapherna­lia and reckless driving. A female passenger, Jamie D. Bledsoe, was taken into custody and to the Marshall County Jail for possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana and possession of parapherna­lia. Both were given cash bonds of $1,500.

Readers are reminded that charging informatio­n supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceeding­s and are entitled to be represente­d by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
