Ross of rural Walkerton passed away on Monday, Feb. 6, 2023 in her home following an illness.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1921 in Walkerton to the late Albert and Minnie (Ehrhardt) Huhnke

Sr., and was 101 years-old at the time of her death. She lived in the area her entire life and on June 29, 1946 she married Harley G. Ross in South

Bend. She was a past member of the Walkerton United Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting, reading, and cooking. Doris also loved a good game of either canasta or scrabble (which she was almost impossible to beat!) Most of all Doris cherished her family dearly. Doris is survived by three children Shirley L. Ross, Joseph E. Ross, and Mark H. Ross all of Walkerton; two grandchild­ren Joseph H. (Sarah) Ross of Walkerton and Jean (Seth) Cooper of Indianapol­is; one brother Harold (Verdene) Huhnke of Wyatt; one sister Gladys Prentis of Laporte; and several loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter-in-law Mary Jo Ross; two brothers Albert Huhnke Jr. and Leslie Huhnke; and two sisters Myrtle Smith and Dolores Wilson. Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. EST also on Tuesday, February 14 at the Funeral Home. Online condolence­s may be left on Doris’ obituary at rannellsfu­neralhome.com.
