No. 2 in the state visits The Rock tonight

- By RON Haramia Sports Writer

the high school boys basketball regular season has just two weeks left and the sectional pairings will be announced this Sunday. Here are capsule previews for the local games on tap tonight highlighted by one of the top teams in the entire state playing in Plymouth.

Tuesday tussles #2* Penn @ Plymouth

Plymouth’s (8-11) lone game this week has the No. 2 team in the state, Penn (19-1), dropping by the Rock tonight. the Pilgrims dropped a last-second heartbreaker their last time out on the home court against rival Warsaw this past Friday. Speaking of, Penn’s head coach, Al Rhodes, is a familiar face to Pilgrim fans. the longtime coach led the Warsaw program from 1981-2002 and has had numerous battles with Plymouth over the years, including the last 11 while at Penn. the Kingsmen are currently riding a 13-game winning streak and boast Notre Dame recruit and Mr. Basketball candidate Markus Burton (29.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.4 apg). the last Plymouth win in the series came in 2017.

Knox @ Glenn

Glenn (11-8) steps out of conference for this home game against Knox (10-8). the Falcons had their highest scoring output in their last outing (72) and are averaging almost 55 ppg now. the Redskins are coming in on a three-game winning streak and also put up their highest scoring mark of the season in their last game, matching Glenn’s 72-point effort. Will either team get close to that total tonight?

South Bend Saint Joseph @ Bremen

the first of two home Northern Indiana Conference games for Bremen (1-17, 0-9 NIC) this week starts with a visit from SB Saint Joseph (9-11, 6-3 NIC). St. Joe’s sub-.500 overall record doesn’t look like much, but the Indians have losses to five teams that are currently ranked in the top 10 and three that are ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in Class 4A and 3A.

Triton @ Rochester triton’s (10-8) three-game road stretch ends with this contest at Rochester (10-7). the Zebras have alternated between a win and a loss for the last nine games. to keep that pattern going they are due for a loss to the trojans. triton won this match-up a year ago by 12.

Argos @ South Central

Argos (12-5) has a busy threegame week starting with this trek to Union Mills to face South Central (4-13). A victory over the Satellites would give the Dragons their second four-game winning streak of the season.

North Judson @ Culver

Culver’s (9-8, 4-2 HNAC) three-game week starts with this Hoosier North Athletic Conference tilt at home against HNAC leader North Judson (163, 6-0 HNAC). Before coming to the Cavaliers in 2021, head coach Kyle Evans led NJ for three years. the Bluejays are currently on a six-game winning streak.

South Bend Riley @ Culver Academy

Culver Academy (13-5) will put its four-game winning streak on the line when it welcomes SB Riley (10-9) to Fleet Gymnasium tonight. the Eagles average 54.5 ppg and the Wildcats 61.4 so this has the makings of a high-scoring contest.

Oregon-davis @ Washington Township

this will be O-D’S (2-18) sixth straight road contest, but last one of the regular season when Washington township (4-11) visits the Bobcat Den. Is this the night the Bobcats end their 14-game losing streak? O-D topped the Senators last year, 50-43.
