Anita Marlene Day

PLYMOUTH — Anita Marlene Day, 85, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Born on September 22, 1937 in Beach Grove, Indiana she was the daughter of Norman and Gladys (William) Fark.

She attended Plymouth High School graduating with the class of 1955. Marlene as she was referred to by everyone that knew her worked for Dry Food Storage where she met her husband, Donald Day and they were married on June 3, 1956. Together they adopted three children and remained in Plymouth working on the family farm. She found herself working the crops dealing with beef cattle and even milking. She was also employed at JJR Transporta­tion and then worked as the Calvary Lutheran secretary for 13 years.

Marlene’s faith was strong as she was an active member at Calvary Lutheran since 1941. She was extremely involved with the church as teller, past president, secretary and treasurer of the Women’s Guild; caroling chair and chair of the trash and treasurer sale for many years. Marlene had a very giving heart and was generous to her core. She served as a president and secretary of the West Township PTO, on the West Township 4-H council as well as a leader for photograph­y, rabbits, and stamps. She was proud to hold all the offices at various times in the Old Laporte Road Home Economic Club. She was fond of camping and was a member of the Pathfinder­s Campers since 1967 where she held the offices of president, secretary and treasurer.

Anita is survived by her three children: Christine Lemler; Michael (Lisa Sherwood) Day of Plymouth; Melanie (Todd) Espich; three granddaugh­ters: Ashley Craig, Jennifer Lemler, Amanda Lemler; five grandsons: Harold Lemler II, Michael Day, Nathan Day, Jeremie Espich and Dylan Espich.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Day; her father Norman Fark, Mother Gladys Fark and sister Linda Duff.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1314 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, IN 46563. A memorial service will immediatel­y follow with Pastor Eric Ahlemeyer officiatin­g. Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
