Sheriff Hassel releases February 2023 Reports

Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel released Marshall County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) reports for February 2023.

The number of beds in the Marshall County Jail totals 233. The population as of March 2 was 121 inmates.

There were two inmates serving time for civil charges, zero awaiting sentencing, one serving time with misdemeano­r charges, and 26 serving time with felony charges.

There were a total of 29 inmates sentenced with 81 inmates on pre-trial, 9 awaiting arraignmen­t and two being held for another agency.

Of the 121 inmates 97 were male with the remaining 24 female.

The average population for February 2023 was 116, compared to 145.7 in August of 2022, and 165.1 in February of 2022.

Sheriff Hassel reported 1,371 active warrants. The top ten offenses upon intake last month were as follows ranking from first to tenth: Failure to Appear (24), Possession of Marijuana (18), Operator Never Licensed (18), Driving While Suspended (17), Possession of Parapherna­lia (16), Possession of Methamphet­amine (14), Operating While Intoxicate­d (10), Theft (8), Probation Violation (6), and Contempt of Court (4).

Jail booking informatio­n for a total of 128 total bookings include zero arrests / zero no judicial review from Argos Police Department, two arrests / zero no judicial review from Bourbon Police Department, four arrests / one no judicial review from Bremen Police Department, one arrest / zero no judicial review from Culver Police Department, zero arrests / zero no judicial review from Lapaz Police Department, 19 arrests / two no judicial review from Indiana State Police (ISP), zero arrests / zero no judicial review from the Department Natural Resources (DNR), 20 arrests and seven no judicial review from Plymouth Police Department, two arrests / zero no judicial review from Marshall County Community Correction­s, and 81 arrests / one no judicial review from Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.

MCSD responded to 49 accidents, 45 incidents of property damage, four incidents of personal injury, and zero fatalities.

69 case reports were completed, 47 security checks, and 86 warnings / citations were issued.

Marshall County Central Dispatch / 911 took 2,216 administra­tive calls with 1,119 of those being 911 calls. The 911 call were answered in ten seconds or less.
