Bremen runners in top 20 at Bulldog Invite

FORT WAYNE — The Bremen boys’ track and field team competed at the Bulldog Invite at Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday with the boys finishing 15th and the girls 17th.

Numerous boys and girls athletes achieved personal best times, but two relays for the boys also had their best times to start off a season in multiple years.

The Bulldog Invite also serves as a qualificat­ion meet for the HSR State Indoor finals which invites the top 24 individual­s and relays (18 in HJ and PV) in 10 events to compete in the 1-3A State Finals at I.U. Bloomingto­n on March 25.

The Lions placed in four different events and currently have qualified three of those events for state competitio­n with one week remaining to qualify:

Luke Kincaid placed 8th out of 41 runners in the 3200m run with a time of 10:21.05 which currently qualifies him in 23rd place for 1-3A state competitio­n.

The 4×800 relay of Kincaid, Matt Urbina, Hudson Fox, and Lubin Viellard ran an 8:45.03 to place 6th at the Bulldog and are currently in 5th in the state standings for 1-3A.

The 4×400 relay of Fox, Urbina, Dylan Goff, and Viellard placed 5th overall at the Bulldog with a time of 3:45.16 and are currently in 6th for 1-3A state qualifying.

Caleb Cullers had a great high jump at 5’10” to place 6th in the Bulldog and also competed in the long jump with Brayden Pearish.

Keegan Miller competed in the 3200m run and also lead off the Distance Medley Relay that included Mauricio Gonzalez, Jackson Gilmer, and Ian Russel.

Goff lead off the 4×200 relay that also included Broc Smessaert, Oliver Nunemker, and Jacob Douglass.

For the girls the 4×200 relay of Emma Kincaid, Zeta Numemaker, Sienna O’connor, and Kila Foster ran a 1:55.71 placing 7th at the Bulldog and they currently sit in 19th place for 1-3A state qualificat­ion.

The 4×400 relay of Nunemaker, Elle Libey, Hallie Klockow, and Kincaid are currently in 18th place in the state with a time of 4:32.42 and placed 8th overall at the Bulldog.

Michaela Berger competed in the 3200 run and also lead off the Distance Medley Relay that included Bella Wisler, Samantha Simons, and Paisley Welborn. Simons and Berger joined Klockow and Lindsey Byrd in the 4×800 relay.
