Dana Lou Cunningham

August 10, 1940 - February 20, 2023

Mrs. Dana Lou Cunningham, 82 of Lake Wales, Florida passed away on Feb. 20, 2023 surrounded by family. Dana was born Aug. 10, 1940 in Laporte, Indiana to Louis Anderson and Alyse Gjemre and grew up on Koontz Lake. She retired to Lake Ashton, Florida in 2003 where she was very active in her community.

Dana graduated from Grovertown High School in 1958 and attended Indiana State Teachers College and York College (PA) and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. Later she received a MS in Educational Leadership from Nova University (FL). She was a lifelong educator who taught all levels from kindergarten thru junior college. She enjoyed traveling and lived in 9 states, 2 foreign countries and moved 17 times during her 61 plus years of marriage with husband Larry. She was involved in many community activities from committee work, golfing, playing cards to a book club. She was very devoted to her many friends and family.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janet Kondrat. She is survived by her loving husband Larry K. Cunningham; a sister Alyson (Gus) Kruse; her children Kelly (Bobbie Saccone) Cunningham, Kyle (Alexandra Deutsch) Cunningham, and Karah (Bob Daugherty) Cunningham; and grandchildren Hadley Cunningham, Claire (Dean) Hague, Logan Cunningham and Jane Mckee.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service held at Immanuel Lutheran Church (where Dana and Larry were married in 1961) on Saturday, June 17 at 1 p.m. EDT. A private burial service will be held immediately following at the Swedish Cemetery next to the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any Memorials be sent to Immanuel Luther Church, 6835 Union Road, Plymouth, IN 46563.
