Saint Joseph Health System Unveils Second Mobile Medical Unit

MISHAWAKA — Saint Joseph Health System Community Health and Well-being, with support from 1st Source Bank, is launching a second Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). The new MMU is a clinic on wheels that will travel throughout the community providing convenient and easy access to healthcare. The MMU features two medical exam rooms that offer similar services to a traditional doctor’s office, like exams and immunizations. The new MMU will be available for local businesses and organizations to utilize for health care services on-site.

Saint Joseph Health System will host a ribbon cutting of the MMU.

WHERE: East parking lot of Saint Joseph Mishawaka Medical Center, 5215 Holy Cross Pkwy., Mishawaka, IN

SJHS began operating the first MMU in the area in 2006, which houses a 3-D mammogram. The ribbon cutting will also include tours of the vehicle that contains the only mobile 3-D mammogram in the area. 3-D mammograms allow for fine details that can detect cancer 15 months earlier than 2D views. This MMU has provided more than 18,000 mammograms to women in Michiana since it began in 2006. About Saint Joseph Health System
