Judy Schmidt

Judy Schmidt, age 81 of Plymouth, IN, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 10, 2023 in her daughter’s home.

Judy was born to Hugo and Betty (Rordon) Ibs on Dec. 19, 1941, in Valparaiso, IN. She graduated from Aubbeenaub­bee High School in 1959. She then went on to get her associate degree in business from Indianapol­is. She married John E. Schmidt on Sept. 30, 1961, in Monterey, IN, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2015. She attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Plymouth, IN. She was a dairy farmer’s wife, a bus driver for John Glenn School Corporatio­n, a cook for the Marshall County Jail and Swan Lake Golf Course, and a loving mother. She enjoyed showing rabbits countrywid­e and was a member of Polk Township Rabbit Club, Polk Township Fire Department Auxiliary, as well as the owner of Schmidt Rabbitry and playing with her beloved collies. Judy was a singer, singing with the Poor Hand Maids of Jesus Christ at Ancilla College in the production of the Massiah.

Judy will be missed by her daughters: Helen Schmidt of Argos, IN; Rita (Fred) Lemert of Bourbon, IN; Sharon Schmidt of South Bend, IN; Gerrie (Duwayne) Kirchoff of Plymouth, IN; her sons: John W. (Loretta) Schmidt of Plymouth, IN; James R. (April) Schmidt of Warsaw, IN; her grandchild­ren: Evan Schmidt; Katie Schmidt; Elizabeth Schmidt; Haley Pete: JT Schmidt; Alyssa Ryan; Brittney Schmidt; Abby Schmidt; her great-grandchild­ren: Lindsey Ryan; J. Ryan; Lane Dickeson; and Sadie Dickeson; her sister, Betty (Dick) Jordan of Colorado; and her son-in-law, Wayne Pete of Florida.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Betty; her husband, John; and her daughters, Lisa Daughtery and Karen Pete.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Bourbon Bible Church (2002 12th Rd, Bourbon, IN 46504).

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 5 p.m. at Bourbon Bible Church (2002 12th Rd, Bourbon, IN 46504) with Pastor Rick Davenport presiding.

Memorial Donations may be made to Polk Township Fire Department (4836 French Street, Plymouth, IN 46563).
