- Submitted by Jean ann dennie bhsaa Secretary

The 126th bourbon alumni Reunion of the bhsaa was held at the Pentecostal church for the first time. There were 115 present. The prayer was given by Tom Sell, class of 1953. Dinner was prepared by the Pentecostal Ladies auxiliary and served by their young adults.

Those in attendance moved to the sanctuary for the business meeting where the school song was played, the pledge to the flag was given, Frances read a poem and Mary read the list of deceased followed by a moment of silence.

This years Scholarship award went to Olivia Shively. Her parents are Travis and amanda Shively and her great grandparents are Fred and Wanda Shively from the class of 1958. Wanda presented her award.

The Secretary’s report was read by Jean ann and the Treasurer’s report was given by carolyn and both were approved. The officers all thank you for your faith in them for another year. Francis gave many interesting facts about school history. There were no alumni in 1932 due to the depression and none in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID. at the 1940 alumni the class of 1915 was celebrating 25 years and they had 11 of 17 attending. They suggested recognizing the honor year classes. In 1941 the alumni committee purchased the trophy to award the highest percent present. In 1954 the percent was changed to only living graduates.

The oldest member present was Deloris Sarber Senff, class of 1942 who is 99, and traveling the farthest was allen Gerard, class of 1949 from Tucson, az 1813 miles. Honor classes were 1943, 1948, 1953, 1958, and 1963. Honor classes and non honor classes were introduced and the classes of 1943,1948, and 1958 all tied for most attendance.

Mary and carolyn both read poems. Everyone was grateful not to have to set up and take down tables or mop floors and clean tables and chairs as they have done in the past.

Next years alumni banquet will be held on May 18, 2024.

Frances told them all to stay safe and healthy and closed the meeting.
