Marshall County Courthouse lawn hosts Overdose Awareness Day

Marshall County will host its first Overdose Awareness Day on the grounds of the Marshall County Courthouse on thursday, Aug. 31 from 12 – 1:30 p.m.

Local organizations, David’s Courage, Bowen Center, Recover Michiana, and Dustin’s

Place, have teamed up with Allendale treatment and Fort Wayne Recovery to bring this event to Marshall County.

“Allendale treatment has hosted Overdose Awareness Day events throughout Northern Indiana over the past few years” states Kelly Erickson, Board Member of David’s Courage. “they reached out to a few of us in Marshall County and asked if we wanted to partner with them for our first event.”

Overdose Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day to bring awareness to the devastating impact of

overdose. The day acknowledges people who might go unseen, and the awareness hopes to end substance use. Grieving families, individuals, and first responders come together to offer support and break down stigma regarding the national crisis.

“Overdose does not discriminate” states Alicia Wells, Public Relations Liaison at Allendale Treatment. “If your family has been affected and you are looking for support, please join us for this event. We are here to hold your hand through this.”

Overdose Awareness Day is located at Marshall County Courthouse, 211 W. Madison Street in Plymouth. The event is open to the public. Lunch provided for the first 75 attendees.
