A Haunting in Venice and Expend4bles

- BY GAVIN GREER

On Wednesday of this week I went to see A Haunting in Venice. This movie is the third Kenneth Branagh directed film based off a book by Agatha Christie. This movie saw Branagh’s character, Hercule Poirot come out of retirement after a series of strange events take place at a seance.

I thought that this was one of the better mystery movies that I have seen. Unlike the second movie of this series I felt that this film did a great job at hiding who the villain was. Branagh was great in this role just as he was in the last two installments. I thought that the rest of the cast was great too. Tina Fey played a great character and child actor Jude Hill showed that he could be an interesting actor in the future.

A Haunting in Venice was pretty different from Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. While it was still a mystery at its core, this chapter featured more horror elements as it worked to involve Halloween themes.

This movie was probably the second best of the series, I still think that Murder on the Orient Express is the best of the three. I think that this movie changed the character of Poirot and opened up the possibility for more movies for this series in the future.

After a few weeks of movies that I was not super excited for, this movie gave me what I was hoping for.

This week I will be going to see Expend4bles. This is the fourth movie of the Expendables series (as the name suggests).

This chapter of the series see the team answer the call as the world’s last line of defense.

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Megan Fox and Dolph Lundgren all star in this film.

The Expendables series was started as a way for Stallone to give actors who had been struggling a movie where they could come together to have success. Some of the original actors return for this movie and a few new faces join in.

I think that this should be a pretty fun watch. Stallone and Statham are two of my favorite actors and I like other people in the cast. When Stallone is involved in getting a movie made he usually works to make it something that fans will like.

I had never seen the other Expendables movies before so I had to watch the previous three this week to get prepared. After watching all of them I am ready to watch this one!

Expend4bles is one of the movies that comes out this week. Other movies that release this week are It Lives Inside, Relax, I’m from the Future and LA Undercover.

Relax, I’m from the Future is a comedy about a man from the future who gets trapped in the past. While trapped in the past he works to make a life for himself which sets in motion problems.

Rhys Darby, Gabrielle Graham and Julian Richings all star in this movie.

LA Undercover follows rookie LAPD cop Corey Shaw. Shaw must go undercover to take down crime-lord Kevin “Keys” Lyles. With everything on the line, Shaw battles maintaining his relationship, doing his job and staying true to his identity.
